Images and poster files

Rasterbator.im reads local images and generates previews, PDF pages and JPG tiles in your browser. Your selected image is not uploaded to our server for processing. The current workspace is held in browser memory and is discarded when the page is closed or refreshed. Downloaded files remain wherever you save them on your device.

When you enter a public image URL, your browser requests that image directly from its host. That host receives the request and applies its own policies. It must allow cross-origin access for the image to load. You can instead download the image yourself and choose it as a local file.

Browser preferences and website requests

The website may store your light or dark theme preference in local storage. This preference does not contain your image or poster settings. Your browser also requests the website’s pages, scripts and example pictures from the hosting service; these normal website requests are separate from processing your selected image.

The current site does not require an account, payment or an analytics identifier to make a poster. We have not added third-party analytics to this version.

If you email hello@rasterbator.im, the address and content you send are used to respond to your request. Avoid sending private images or sensitive documents when reporting a problem; a description of the browser, settings and error is usually enough.
